New features in ResourceSpace 10.7

In ResourceSpace 10.7, we’ve introduced several improvements, including more consent and license management options, new AI and OCR functionality, and improved resource annotation and management of featured collections. Read on for a summary of all the new functionality and watch the video to see how they work:

Consent and License manager improvements

In 10.7, our consent and license manager plugins have been improved so that you can now enable notifications about expiring consent/license records straight from the plugin. There are now also additional fields, such as date of birth and address, to help you keep all of your consent and license information in one place:

Whisper

Our new Whisper plugin uses state of the art open source speech recognition from OpenAI to transcribe audio and video files. Just like the CLIP Smart search and AI Faces (InsightFace) plugins, Whisper runs on the same server as your ResourceSpace system, so no data is shared with any third parties.

TOTP

Multi-factor authentication is usually handled via third parties such as Microsoft Entra ID or Okta, but for those who aren’t using single sign-on, we’ve introduced a one time password plugin. This provides an extra layer of security - prompting users to add a temporary, time-based code as well as their password.

Tesseract OCR

Our new OCR plugin uses Tesseract - an open-source OCR utility that can extract text from images and scanned documents. As with Whisper, it runs entirely on the same server as your ResourceSpace instance - so no privacy concerns.

Annotations and comments

We’ve made it easier to annotate and comment on your resources. Users with the relevant permissions can now tag, annotate and add comments to resources in combination, straight from the resource preview.

Featured collections

Managing featured collections is now simpler than ever - each category and collection now has an actions menu, so it’s quick and easy to share, add, or remove resources, or to upload directly into a particular collection.

ResourceSpace 10.7 also introduces toast notifications for certain actions like saving a metadata field, as well as a new, dedicated area in the system to manage messages.
